Privacy Policy
Wataa for Android (com.orectec.wataa) · Effective 19 September 2026
Wataa is a hydration alarm app made by OrecTec LLC. This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: almost everything stays on your phone, and the one thing that leaves it, your approximate location when you turn on smart alerts, goes to Google's weather service and nowhere else.
What Wataa stores on your phone
- Your reminder schedule, daily goal, cup size and other settings.
- Each glass you log and each alarm's outcome (beaten, snoozed, skipped), used for the streak and history screens.
- A cached weather reading and a coarse location fix, only while smart alerts are on.
All of this lives in the app's private storage on your device. It is never uploaded to us. We have no servers and no accounts. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in Android settings, deletes all of it.
Location and weather (smart alerts, off by default)
Smart alerts change an alarm's message when it is dangerously hot where you are. To do that, when you turn the feature on, Wataa asks for approximate location permission and sends your rounded coordinates to the Google Weather API, a Google Maps Platform service, to fetch the current heat index. That request is governed by Google's privacy policy. Wataa sends nothing else with it and does not store your location anywhere except the short-lived cache on your phone described above.
If you never turn smart alerts on, Wataa never requests location and never contacts any server.
Permissions Wataa asks for and why
- Alarms & reminders (exact alarms) — to ring at the times you set.
- Notifications and full-screen alerts — the alarm screen appears over the lock screen and asks for the pour gesture; this is the app's purpose.
- Display over other apps — optional, off by default. If you enable "Notify over other apps", a ringing alarm can take over the screen while you are using another app.
- Music and audio files — only if you choose a custom alarm sound from your own files.
- Run at startup — to re-register your alarms after a reboot.
- Vibration and wake lock — to buzz, and to keep the alarm ringing.
What Wataa does not do
- No accounts, no sign-in.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking libraries.
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone.
- No data collection from children. The app is not directed at children under 13.
Your choices
- Smart alerts, and the location access they need, can be switched off at any time in Settings.
- Every Android permission Wataa uses can be revoked in the system settings for the app. Revoking alarm permissions stops alarms from ringing; nothing else breaks.
- To delete everything Wataa holds, clear the app's data or uninstall it. There is nothing held anywhere else to delete.
Changes to this policy
